| Bret Delaney has been one of the longest serving overseas players for Leeds and having started as a so so sort of a centre he developed under McDermott into a very effective second rower and at times a stand in prop. Throughout this time he never gave anything but his best and deservedly kept his starting place in the first team during their most fruitful years and would have been one of the first names on the teamsheet each week.
For the stars of a rugby side to stand out and strut their stuff there is an equal need for the workhorses in the team to put in the hard work to create the platform for success. Delaney together with JJB and Ablett have done the grunt for Leeds over many seasons, often turning out when carrying injury niggles, and have been underrated for their consistent, reliable and often their performances are undervalued.
Well done Bret you have been a top man for Leeds and good luck with your future career.

| Been a good player for us and given good value, but been busted for two years now. Probably shoyld have been teplaced last year. Looks like Ferres is of as well so probably JJB one more year and Ablett maybe 1-2 more years. Seems about right. Hopefully couple new signings and a fully fit Ward should se us through next season.

| Good move by both player and club. Once again shows that Leeds look after the players that look after Leeds.
For a centre, he made a bloody good back rower for a good number of years

Can't see him gelling with Benitez though.

| We (Newcastle) wouldn't get Delaney as he is over 25 and has no resale value, plus would expect a wage, for which Ashley would have to put his hand in his pocket. Which doesn't happen.
I'd pay for a return ticket to Newcastle for Delaney to have a meeting with Ashley for a while. Rafa the gaffa would as well I'm sure.
If he does end up at the Thunder though that would be interesting.

| Did anyone else see the Ferres tweet? We thought it was him going. The disappointment when we found out he wasn't was comparable to waking up next to a lass you pulled after 15 pints.

| At least one of those three needed to go.
If we can get Ward and Ferres fit for next year and a back rower that can break a tackle we will at least look in better shape for 2020 when Ferres,Ablett and JJB will / should be leaving

| Its the right time for him to go. He's been a high contributor to the successes of the club recently. He's really put his body through some pain, and can retire with some great stories and memories

| Pure class right through to the end.
Have everything and then some for the club and led from the front.
Has fallen in his sword a bit here as well which shows what he is all about. Recognises his contribution is not what it was but happy to play at a lower level because he clearly just loves playing.
Thanks for everything.
