Quotechapylad="chapylad"A couple of old boys playing well tonight.
Watkins and Hardaker who I thought played really well from second row to wing to full back.
Can we get Mulhern back?'"
Mulhern, wouldn’t be against trout either. Both club trained.
Then he gives a try only for the VR to rule it out. Not sure how he keeps getting a game either as the man in the middle or the VR. Week in and week out he gets decisions so badly wrong.
Grant wasn't even average in the championship, and now we have to endure his performances in our elite League which in my view, is bringing the standard of our game down to a poor level. We have another weak ref in Liam Rush who i think is the same. He was being intimidated by Sam Tomkins all game yesterday with Leigh.

Its easy to get caught up when it's your team on the receiving end, and sometimes emotion clouds ones view. I'm as guilty as anyone.
However, watching games as a neutral allows for objectivity - and the standard is indeed poor right across the board.
On pitch refs unable/unwilling to decide on a try when they are right on top of the ball carrier, kicking it up to the VR, who has no better view, to make the final call.
Then incidents like the two today, mentioned in posts above. Clearly the wrong calls, with them being blindingly obvious at first glance and full speed.
But the biggest bugbear for me is the inconsistency - between refs, from the same ref in different games and, the most frustrating of all, from the ref in the same game.
How hard can it be to get a consistent definition of a knock on, an incorrect ptb, or implement interpretations for longer than 5.mins.
Rush should have shut Tomkins down yesterday, I'd like to think he'll learn - tbf to him, he did a good job of refereeing our game at Cas.
The other so called rule that gets me is the ball steal or is it a loose carry. Nearly every tackler has his hand on the ball trying to pull the ball away or trying to stop the offload. If it goes to a challenge it nearly always results in a ball steal. If it isn`t challenged it`s a loose carry. Why not put the onus on the player carrying the ball who needs to hold on to it?
