Aprt from the positive PR, why oh why have they signed a 36 year old? Thomas is a sporting hero in Wales and may be very proud of his achievements but at 36 years old, am I right in thinking he's the joint oldest player in SL? He's left in 5 years too late to switch codes. Too much to learn and time definately not on his side!

Not at all, a bit of good PR is nice but clearly not at the expense of signing a marginal player at the very limit of his playing years unproven in the game no dought on a hefy two year contract at the expense of more able members of the squad. I would say a very marginal decision at best, what next, Gavin Henson? The water carrier could bring him on same lager every 20 mins or so to keep his alcohol levels up?

It's a tradition in our sport to knock any clubs why try something different to increase the numbers coming through the gate, or just to raise awareness of the club.

Whether Thomas creates the interest long term for rugby league in North Wales is to be seen, but it certainly created more column inches, minutes on TV and radio for the Crusaders than him not signing would have done...certainly wouldn't have got a mention on BBC's Six Nations coverage otherwise!
