So just on try scoring along, Ethan Ryan is a better winger and a more consistent try scorer

But that was not the OP's criteria for being the best winger in the world. It was to do with scoring tries.

The only player I can think of from the modern era that comes close would be Vainikolo at Bradford with 152 appearances and 149 tries
