So, Saints (and Wigan) failed in their attempt to end the season early and now, despite having close to fully fit squads, dont wish to complete the regular rounds of fixtures.

This should be really helpful in getting a decent TV deal next year and takes the proverbial out of the game.

I also wonder whether its actually due to "sporting reasons" or whether its a financially driven matter - noting that clubs could (probably) furlough staff from 05 Nov (again), and it must be financially better for some do do that, rather than continue playing meaningless games.

If the sport continues then surely furlough isn't an option as it is a business decision not enforced closure? Otherwise all teams not involved in the playoffs cam furlough everyone?
