There is an article in the daily mirror stating that Michael Monaghan could retire after concerns over long-lasting effects of repeated bouts of concussion could make Sunday the 34-year-old's final Magic Weekend appearance.

Sad if true, but it has been coming. Should have called it a day at the end of last year - its just not working for Michael at this level any more.

Monaghan has been the greatest hooker ive seen play for our club... he also has one of the best tackling techniques ive ever seen. As someone said in another post, in 2011 he was arguably the best player in the league.

if as well as he knees being shot, he now has problems due to concussions, he should hang up his boots. He has already given us everything he had. No point endangering himself anymore.

Was he concussed on Friday? Haven't managed to watch the game but I don't remember him getting concussed too many times for us. Sad if true, he was the best player in the league circa 2011.
