Just been given this photo - nice shot of the 1946-47 (I think) team....so come on then, gimme some names/dates/stadium

Top Row, 2nd right is my old school teacher Walter "Knocker" Norris, Top Row 1st right is Gerry Helme. I think the Bottom Row, 1st right is Les "Cowboy" Jones who used to be a neighbour of my parents, but not sure. I haven`t a clue of the venue, it might be Wilderspool before it was developed?

Also just noticed Top Row in the Middle is Dave Cotton Snr.

It's hard to believe that these people were only in their 20s. They mostly look like 50 year olds.

I'll take a flyer on the stadium and say Maine Road.

2nd right on the front row is, I think H. (Harry?) Jones. To the right of him does look like Bevan, with hair and teeth at that young age. Front row 2nd from left is George Taylor, that much I do know

As previously stated, that is Nocker Norris on the back row. He taught at Beamont Sec Tech while I was there between 1964-69. Top teacher and a top bloke.
We used to get him to tell us about the old days while in the middle of a lesson. I remember his story of getting sent off when a scrum broke up and he planted Joe Egan for sinking his teeth in his neck.
Phil Chadwick was in the same class as me too .... he was a rum lad even back then and he had a few run ins with Nocker.
