According to Keith Freer we will now be taking young players from Cas to bring on with their development! After being Wire n Saints player development club the RFL really have got what they wanted. A closed shop in SL and feeder clubs below. They have killed my beloved team Leigh. The game is absolutely pointless now below SL. The game really is dying thanks to the idiots running it.

Message for Keith Freer - I dont want to watch a Leigh team with Wire, Saints or Cas young players, I want to watch a Leigh team with young Leigh players. Please heed that message or will the last spectator leaving the LSV please turn the lights out.

Must admit in giving the bad news about Millward it seemed bizarre in posting in the same press release about Leigh trying to link up with Castlefords youth players.

If that was the positive in the press release then things are getting exceptionally bad !

Could it be an indication that Millward will take some Leigh players with him?

Got to say that opening ' links ' with Cas seems pretty pointless to me , just a softening of the blow for the official line , totally unnecessary , we have a tried and tested set up of players from within a 15/20 mile radius , that is all we need , I wouldn't even bother with a Quota player any more , not needed

There is absolutely no reason to be linked with Castleford in any way. The Acting Chairman hasn't got a clue.

So that'll be three from cas four from wire and one from saints,"great",at least we now know were we'll stand next season.

Nothing wrong with linking up with Castleford and taking some of their youngsters on, who for your information for the past couple of seasons at u18s and reserve level have been very impressive, you only need to look at the amount that have stepped up to the first team.

No-one complained too much when Evans, Blythe, Mitchell, Emmitt etc have pulled on Leigh shirts over the past two seasons. I'd place a bet on Leigh taking Ryan Brierley on dual reg next season if this is the case. A talented 7, who is probably better than what we have at the club going into next season. He probably won't be used by Cas so will be available all year round and he will be a cheap option to replace the outgoing Ellis.

At the end of the day, we're probably never going to get a team of Leythers/local players who are good enough to compete the way Leigh fans would want. It didn't work three years ago when Leigh took on young players Mort, Stanton, Reay, Meekin etc I could go on but they just weren't good enough.

Luckily for the moment we've got a few who are still young and will make the grade in Nicho, Pownall and Hoppy. There's probably a couple more in the reserves too but the reality of it is, that most of those players will end up in CH1 club or back at their amateur teams.
