| Our win last week looks a bit better now. It’s good for the league that Saints have lost early, as we can’t afford for them to walk the LLS again.
I noted Bill Arthur made plenty of their injuries but that’s a welcome to the rest of the leagues problems. They’ve hardly had a cold for the last 2 years and they started last night minus 5 players and then lost Percival when the game had gone. Tonight Cas will be missing 8 or 9 players (and have been for 12 months now), Hull have had a similar amount out all of last year (and in many before that), same for Wakefield last year and the same for us for many seasons.

| I was a bit surprised at how ineffective Saints looked minus a couple of key players. Suddenly their line-up was unrecognisable, and they had to dig deep just to keep the score down.
May be a more even competition this year than people think.

| I think that Saints missing six of their first choice and more experienced players like Amor, Coote, Knowles, Makinson, Robey and Walmsley may have had something to do with the result.
We have been in the same situation when a similar number of first choice and more experience players have been missing.

| I think it's brilliant. The injury list we have had for 2 years is crazy but if we mention it we are moaning or making excuses. At least when we do have to call up on the youngsters they are good enough to compete. Not one of those young players from Saints last night is going to be good enough to make it at a top club. Our youth system props the league up. If they aren't good enough for Wigan they still end up first team players at other super league clubs. It's the bedrock of Wigan RL and something we have always aimed to be the best at and we have been for decades and judging from what I see around the league that crown isn't likely to be challenged any time soon.

| Warrington played the perfect game plan to counteract Saints’ line speed. I thought Saints were unlucky not to get over the line but Warrington did thoroughly deserve to walk away with the win.
It makes our win last week look both better and lucky, the latter isn’t a bad thing either.

| I said it all last season that Saints squad was poor. They rested players twice and lost at London, twice. They crowed about beating us on Good Friday in a game we finished with a SR at centre and our 3rd choice half back going off with concussion. That is on top of the 7 players we were missing at kick off. At their place we were missing most of our pack while they were fully fit.
Yes they were superb last season but their dominance was based around having their best team out most weeks and the rest of the league being either , injury ridden or both. Wire weren't too far behind them until they lost 8 of their last 10 after Austin getting injured and winning the cup. It's similar to Liverpools PL dominance. A great side yes, but the rest are utter .
Saints will quite possibly win it again this year if their best side is playing week after week but they showed last night (and last season) their squad is no better than anybody elses. In fact that side last night was possibly stronger (first choice wise rather than ability) than some of the sides we put out last year and in 2017.

| There is a poor squad and then there is missing Coote, Makinson, Roby, Walmsley, Knowles, Amor plus Percival to injury in the game.
I think any team would be weaker with seven first teamers out to be fair. Away at Wire is tough with a full side, we were always going to be up against it.
Hopefully bodies back for Hull next weekend to get some minutes in before the roosters but it's a concern that a fair few key players are carrying injuries and low on minutes.
