I wonder where Smith is taking his advice from? He can't possibly know him personally so he must have been pointed his way. I can't think it is Carter.
Either way, I'm ok with Smith in the centre. Gives us some quality. Play him with Johnstone.

Impossible to know where Smith (L) is now in terms of fitness and game readiness - I guess that's why he's training with the team and not yet signed; if Smith (B) sees some value in him, then he'd be a useful signing for the rest of the season - he was always solid for us and he certainly has plenty of experience.

Fitness in Union is now the same as League, probably better in our case. Match reediness is different. However I do believe that Centre is one of the few position in which a stint in Union can create a better player. No fluke that most of the Union converts to succeed in League were often Centres.
As yo say a solid player with a bit of house and a willingness to lead. |
