I guess it's down to the way it's decided. Sort of like MoM points from each game.
If you're a big fish in a little pond, in a team that wins more than half their games and you are ever-present in those games, then you've got a good chance.
Isn't it points awarded from a 'mystery celebrity', 3-2-1? Usually the losing side picks up the 1 and the winning side 3 & 2. If McShane was picking up the 2 points most weeks they win and 1 when they lose (his style means that he can look good even in a loss), then the points will build up over the season. Conversely, in a team with more star players the points will be shared out more evenly.
Not much chance if your team are losing most weeks. I guess the system is biased towards a mid-table team with few star players.
Wasn't big Dave leading a couple of years ago by about half-way through the season? It's very unlikely that a prop will win it because they're bound miss games through injury.
