| Agree, we needed a response after the last couple of games, and we got one, whilst we were under a bit of pressure to produce one. Tbh, leading up to the game, I actually thought the rain was gonna be a real leveller, but alas it didn't turn into an error fest and we played some really attractive RL, with a good level of confidence, which was great to see from the lads.
Right from his first couple of carries, it was really noticeable how hard and fast Matty was running the ball in; he looked like he was 25 again. He really did cause havoc on every return, difficult to handle and knocked the defence backwards every time, really good return from him. Shame he's only played 5 games this season.
Stourton looked back to his best; when he plays at his best, he's so difficult for teams to handle. Cauis was great as well, really aggressive and ran with intent every carry and went over for another excellent try. Mike and Pitts were back to their usual high standard, and Seth looked really sharp as well. Harvey continues to impress, and Rourke came in and had another good game.
I bet TJ's wondering when something's gonna come down his left side of the field when attacking, I can't remember him touching the ball in Hudds half; it also seems ages since he last scored. He does a load of donkey work out of the back field and starts our sets off really well, and before his injury, he was 2nd on the meters made this season, but as far as his finishing ability and open field running, we're just not making the most of him atm imo.

Whoever recruited Burgess for Huddersfield needs their position at the club 'reimagined'. Most of their team at least scrapped and fought but were simply outclassed, but I thought he looked disinterested. Almost as bad as Procter was for us.
He's pinching money. Well past his best, they usually are after 10 years first grade in the front row it takes it's toll on the body .

Nobody can be as bad as Proctor was for us The worst player I have seen in a Wakefield shirt by far ,and there as been some bad ones

From being one of the best front rowers in the world to someone who I’ve seen under 14’s forwards run it in harder. Just shows the philosophy that Mills and co has brought in is working outstandingly. Genuinely couldn’t pay me to have him the big disinterested lump.

On Saturday he took on 3 carries for 24 metres, or £250 per metre. Not sure even Procter was that bad, to be honest. Either way, he's robbing Davy.

| It was a stupid bit of business. I said on here at the beginning of the season Huddersfield would be in this position.
They tried to replace some really good hardworking committed players (Chris Hill, Esan Marsters, Kevin Naiqama) with others who on paper had achieved similar things (Burgess, Milne, Gagai). But it's not played on paper. Burgess was an impact sub at Souths, not a workhorse leader like Hill. Milne made loads of NRL appearances too, but he's daft as a brush and doesn't have the same attitude as Marsters or Naiqama. And Gagai had barely even played fullback before he was given the number 1 shirt.
Whoever's in charge of recruitment there isn't looking past reputation.
