| i think it's rediculous how players don't reach the referee after each tackle and get away with it.

| But we'd only have, "FORWARD!" to shout at the ref if they didn't stay in line with him.

| Most of the time the ref will come back 11/12 instead of 10. This makes the players look offside even when they are not. It happened a lot in the Quins game as i was paying particular attention.

| I don't like the constant shouting of fans to get teams on-side. I'm sure it's a form of rugby tourettes.
Consistancy is the main issue. As long as the ref is consistant I couldn't care less

Very true. The question is why ? If they just came back the 10 required it would remove uncertainty for themselves/players and fans alike.

I think most of our rules are not applied rigorously because if they were it would be like hockey, basketball or American Football with constant interruptions by the ref. The ptb is not applied to the letter of the law and neither is the offside (particularly on your own try line when it is easiest to see. The refs have to apply common-sense and give some leeway to allow the game to flow. It's one of the reasons that referees are so open to abuse when actually they do a great job. When I got home after the Quins match and watched the game again the officals' performances weren't that bad at all (including the video referee). The only issue I have is the wrestle at the ptb but watching the World Club game I would say we got off pretty lightly according to this year's interpretation. That will probably get worse this season if the Aussies are going to play like that the Storm did against Leeds all season because the RFL will want us to be ready to compete on their terms in the 4 Nations.

With regard to the offside rule the ref going back 12 metres instead of 10 has no impact on the flow of the game it just leaves everyone guessing and frustrated. Also failure to keep a good 10 is detrimental to the game as a spectacle. On the goal line I have no problem with refs playing advantage then going back to ping offside players if a try isn't scored. If players were pinged more often causing multiple back to back sets on their own line they would soon adhere to the laws.

I think you'd be hard pushed to see any play the ball when the defensive players are on side.
