2019 Challenge Cup Round Five Draw
The fifth round of the Coral Challenge Cup saw the entry of the four Super League sides who took part in last season’s middle eights competition as the minnow crossed their fingers and hoped for a fantastic away day at Leeds Rhinos, Hull KR, Salford Red Devils or London Broncos.
There were sixteen names in the draw with St Helens amateur side Thatto Heath Crusaders the lowest placed side, joining the surviving Betfred Championship and Championship One sides in the hat.
League legend Martin Offiah and Steve Prescott Foundation's Linzi Prescott drew the balls at the Boxpark at Wembley Stadium

| Home to Leigh, pretty uninspired stuff, but a great draw if you happen to be Joe Cator.

Crap draw for us also (different reasons obviously). Overall it's a poor draw, no obvious games for BBC TV/Live Streaming.

| Playing it on Thursday 11th, sensible decision by the club and gives us a great turnaround for Easter

| Think both clubs agreeing to the Thursday shows both are thinking of Good Friday and the Easter block of games. They have Widnes and I'd suggest that is more important to them as a club? Big positive in an 8 day turnaround. Personally I like Thursday games as it's my day off but appreciate it isn't convenient for some?

| True but back then people had more free time and more expendable cash imo. We've seen the best of it I reckon

| I can see why both clubs want it, would have preferred Saturday or Sunday. What it does show is the stupidity of the Easter programme, why when we are playing some teams three times do we need to cram two games over three days? Just a good job the BBC don’t want to show our game.

I think you've nailed it there Craig. Does it also give you a seven day turnaround from your Leeds game? Just a four day turnaround for us there from our Barrow game. However, I'm pretty certain that Leigh wanted Thursday or Friday. From our point of view, the maximum amount of recovery time is essential, as we won't have any Saints players to rely on this Thursday, and I suspect we may not get much from them over Easter, either. That leaves us with a very small squad to get us through the cup tie and Easter - so go easy on us, eh?
Hopefully Joe Cator will be available on Thursday. He was sin-binned for a dangerous throw on Sunday, but any suspension would be likely to take effect at Easter. Unusually, Stef Marsh was also yellow carded for holding down in the same tackle. You don't see that very often, but then we don't get Ben Thaler very often, in the Championship!
