| Based on his last 2 years with us, it wouldn't surprise me.
Shame really. When he played he showed his class

| Me being an eternal cynic, I fully expect Tonga to do a 'Dane Neilson' at the end of this RFL led shambolic season

| TBF if it's like Neilson with an option for yr 2 then you wouldn't blame either side if it wasn't taken up given likely cost from our side and his potential lack of appetite to be playing Hemel stags et al

| Apparently pulled up with a calf strain on the captains run last week
But is anyone surprised by this?
a) we get horrendous luck with new players getting injured
AND
b) Tonga is a notorious sick note
Put those two factors together and it would be astonishing if he [iwasn't[/i injured

| Willie Tonga is still the most bizarre signing I think I've seen in a while.
We were effectively already relegated when he signed. So what was the point of paying someone who I highly doubt comes cheap (former Aussie International) and who has been recently injury prone, to play in some games that don't really matter? On the face of it, it makes no sense whatsoever.

| for next year the guys we do have signed on are better than we have had this year mainly,
especially if we manage to tie Chistholm down..
Tonga
Lee Smith
Ashley Gibson
Sam Hallas
all signed when it was pretty sure we were going down..
Its either a very exciting statement of intent or just blind clutching at straws probably the latter.

| Would the players sign though? I could imagine the owners making desperate attempts to sign players up. But if you were a player, and you have no intention to play in L1, why would you sign a 2 year deal when we were dead certs to go down? Tonga made it very clear hes here next year, despite it being obvious to everyone we were down.
If we've signed Tonga on the proviso we can only afford him by staying in chanpionship, then im with Hamster its, the most bonkers signing since Riche Mathers. IF we have signed him with the intention of keeping him in L1, i think its a good signing.

| I think they would provided the money was offered, end of the day these players have signed on for the next season so all you can do is hope they stay and not read too much into it. If they had that in there contract why bother signing a 2 year deal yet you'd wait and see first in all fairness and then at the end of the season sign an extension surely.
