The coverups going on in the Australian media regarding this bloke accurately reflect the complete bias regarding the reporting of off field incidents in union as compared to rugby league.

If this guy had been an NRL player, he would have been hounded constantly for the last 48 hours.

As a union player - either no-one cares (quite possible) or the old school ties are being removed from the bottom drawer and put on by many editors in the Australian press.

Pathetic.

I think the former is reality. Bit like asking why Missy Higgins doesn't get as much tabloid press as Britney Spears!

In my view, the NRL needs to begin to apply some real pressure to media organisations that consistently fail in this area.

He's a fringe international player in a sport that is dwindling in Oz. Not news worthy. No one cares.

RL players get falsely accused and it makes front and back pages of the major newspapers. even in afl areas they talk about

RU player does same thing = no coverage

afl player does it = AFL media cover it up and our media ignore it

conclusion = people only want to hear about RL players in most of australia

the media are parasites living off our popularity

paranoid or what! I can assure you that in AFL states RL misbehaviour does not make front and back page news! It might get a couple of column inches a few pages in unless it is really serious. You want to talk about media coverage you should have seen the Perth paper with the Ben cousins saga, one day they had 7 pages dedicated to it! Of course in a state where people are interested in RL it is going to be headline news when it relates to RL. Having said all of that some of the media borders on hysteria in Sydney and makes me wonder why in a RL state the media is so hostile to the No1 sport?

Cooper is charged on a Sunday night (1), with a Court appearance to follow on the Friday following (2).

There was not one interview or attempt to question Cooper between one and two.

A rugby league player would have been subjected to an outrageous press camp stationed outside his home for the duration of the week.

There are only two possible answers to why this is:

1. No-one is interested because it is union; or
2. Bias.

There is no third choice.
