The "new era" video uses one of their songs and they're having a hissy fit on Twitter because apparently SL have used it without their permission (typical) they're also not best pleased because according to their timeline Rugby is a rubbish sport played by rapists, classy eh?

The music is quite similar but it isn't the same.

I have to admit, I've only seen the advert once and I was under the impression that that was what the music was.

I understand protecting IP but this does drive me crazy.

A sport uses their music in a promotional film and they complain? Surely they should be happy that their music is being used? It's not like the Super League are making money from the song.

Compared the two, only a few notes at the beginning are similar, they both have the same slow build-up that MANY songs have. If they'd had something similar to the main chords included in the video I'd agree its "plagiarised", but not for a few notes at the beginning.

Yeah really isn't the same music. Similar style maybe but not the same. If that's plagiarism then you need to pay Brian May every time you clap your hands.

As a professional Sound and Video engineer I would say it's possible inspiration was taken from the intro of the los clostobag song but there is little else to tie them.

I think the music in the second part of the SL video is poor, and a let down, it's not loud enough compared to the intro and should be full on rock.

Agreed. I think the guy behind the Los Compensation twitter feed just needs to calm down a bit..

That's an interesting point, for a Copyright issue to stand you need to prove loss of earnings. How much would the fees for the commercial be (it's a copy rather than an inspired-by) v's any lost sales (none?)?
