The big criterion in recent years has been the presence of English players. Is that what attracts you?

Now we are down to three teams with English players:

South Sydney : Samuel Burgess, George Burgess, Thomas Burgess.

St. George-Illawarra: Gareth Widdop, James Graham

Canberra: Eliot Whitehead, Joshua Hodgson


Is a roster of English players what matters to you? Or do you support another team for other reasons?

Not particularly. Even when Wire's Cooper was at St George i wasn't bothered about them.

I have a Cousin married to a Brisbanite and my Father's Cousin lives in Manley. So i'd probably say, through those tenuous links, to a very small extent i'd rather see those two do well over any others...but barely.

Ever since they came over to play Wigan in 88. I've tended to look for Manley's result and how they're doing.

But in all honesty, I'm not bothered about the NRL really.

The cowboys. Purely because JT is just fantastic to watch

Elliott Whitehead, sometimes spelt as Elliot.

Western Magpies or West Tigers as they seem to be today. Spent a period of time working with the Australian Army on exchange based in the west near Campbletown, so naturally followed them ever since.

No real science involved here, Rabbitohs as my nephew works there and Bulldogs as a good friends nephew plays for them.

Souths as my friend who moved out there goes to watch them.

Souths due to the Maguire and Burgess connection. 'Supporting' is probably pushing it though, I'll want them to win when they're on.

Call me crazy, but I tend to support the teams that play the most exciting footy.

In past seasons that has counted out the Bunnies, although there are some signs that may change this season.

Last year I liked the Raiders and the Panthers. The Eels have a good mix of power and skill, too. Is Corey Norman still there? He is some player.

Storm as my brother played for them a few years back before we had VISA issues and he had to return to the UK

The Broncos because they were the first Australian team I knew after the 1994 game Wigan played.
