Quote wigginswarrior="wigginswarrior"I vaguely recall that at a match at Knowsley Rd sometime in the eighties the whole Wigan team came out in the Saints away strip for the second half because you couldn't tell one side from the other because of the muddy conditions, and Wigan hadn't brought enough spare shirts!
True or false, I don't know and I can't find any reference to it.'"
Don't recall it happening in RL but it's happened many times in football for various reasons, so I'm sure it will have happened in RL.
The obvious one being a colour clash and the away team (with only their clashing kit) has been forced to wear the home team's away kit.
France famously played a World Cup tie in the distinctly un-French colours of green and white stripes because they forgot to bring their blue shirts to the stadium and had to borrow a local team's kit.
I don't think rugby league refs have ever been as strict on colour clashes. Two I remember where one team should have been forced to change:
Hull vs Widnes 1991 Premiership Final
Warrington vs Leeds 2010 Challenge Cup Final (Warrington definitely had a red and green away kit at the time too)
I also remember seeing many Warrington vs Castleford games when Warrington have had a predominantly primrose kit where it has been difficult to pick the teams apart.
