New York's challenge cup entry may be delayed until 2022 says Ricky Wilby.
Pandemic's grip on New York likely to prevent the 4 NRL clubs going over for pre-season friendlies at the end of this year, and the NY club can't now really recruit until next year due to the season here going on towards the end of the year.
The NY stadium has a 2 meter rule both ways and so only one in nine seats would be saleable. So 2,500 crowds would be no good. Anyway as they say "good things come to those who wait"

The "year of friendlies" idea seemed a waste of time to begin with.
The pandemic has given them a great reason to just focus on 2022.

Exactly Nail hit right on head......
The issue with New York and Ottawa is that they apparently have no financial backing at all. However to Brian Carney's amazement the RFL/Rimmer flagged their entry to the game through for next season albeit New York apparently just in the Challenge cup and playing friendlies 2021.
A TRL posted suggested that Mr. Wilby and therefore Mr. Perez were running some sort of scam, which was nonsense, but the penny dropped for me in that they are organising their clubs such that IF someone were to come along worth $$Billions they will have a ready made NA club to invest into.
The Modus Operandi is straightforward, Mr. Perez and Mr. Wilby simply do everything they can to organise a stadium, a hotel company, an airline, a place in the Rugby Football League, a competent and capable Coach etc. Everything is arranged and organised with one last piece in the jigsaw to find - a rich owner.
[uBut any potential rich owner does not have to do anything[/u, they will have capable CEO's in Wilby or Perez already in place organising the whole show for them and all they have to do is write a big cheque. I can see that no rich North Americans may want to start anything from scratch and do the hard yards, but if there is a fully organised club ready to go, or more importantly up and running albeit at the bottom level with a thrusting CEO, partners in Travel, accommodation, stadiums, players etc and all it needs is a cheque for a few $Million writing by another Argyle, then off we go the same as Toronto Wolfpack.
That would need some "start up" investment to just get started and play a season 2021. Where that could be coming from may be the question...But Mr. Argyle may know TWP won't go much further on their own...
Best explanation for clubs appearing with no current backing I can see.

See above. A year of friendlies puts them in the showcase for Rich owners to consider buying into them....
If you had $$Millions to spend and fancied trying RL along with Argyle would you buy into a dream or would you more likely invest into a real club with everything up and running??
Rimmer has given both clubs the prize, that last piece in the Jigsaw of a place in the professional game........
The only question is are these clubs needing a rich owner to come along now? Or do they have funds to at least run for a season, i.e. 2021
Remember Ian Lenegan & Company may well pull the plug on North American clubs in SL 2022 onwards. He can easily do this if only TWP are in the league running up their massive debts, but if THREE NA clubs and rich american owners are in the league 2021 it makes it rather impossible for Lenegan to dismiss that.

Or maybe he's just got fed up of reading this dribble about a pie in the sky dream belonging to some on here, you included that is of course if there's any credibility to your posts supporting this vision, or maybe you've just reverted to type and decided to make a bit of mischief, can't imagine why i'd think that of you

You gave whoever it is and whoever they double as the response they needed and whoops I've just done the same so off on a tangent the thread goes.
But back to reality and the reality is Perez and Wilby have set up everything necessary for a fledgling club to function, all that is now needed is someone to put their $Millions into that.
Then these guys will chase the players necessary, that Perez talks about Rugby Union players, whilst Wilby talks about the USARL's players means that they aren't looking at going for a squad of ready made professionals like Perez did when he had Argyle's $$Billions at his disposal. It appears to be just get more NA teams in the league.
It would make it harder for Lenegan & Co. to give them the chop especially if Canadian and USA players were playing in the teams, and especially if there were three lots fo investors investing in North America. Fair play though if that was the case do carry on, do get TWP to also sign North Americans and step down to the Championship to join in proper expansion.

Hilarious, again.
So, you're solution for TWP, after kicking them out of SL, is to drop them into the Championship, a league that they have already EARNED promotion from.
Assuming that, at some point they were to top the league and gain promotion AGAIN, would YOU allow them back into the top flight ??
Maybe you would just preclude all "foreign" clubs, "cos they're no English"
Sounds like a fantastic plan ??
Do you seriously suggest that they should invest more money to regain top flight status - This is without doubt, one of the daftest proposals ever and you think this will help the sport attract additional investment / sponsorship.
RL has a history of making numerous, ill thought out changes to try and find the silver bullet that will propel the sport to the "big time" and it's the sport's inability to see things through and change tack, again and again that makes us a laughing stock.
A clear long term plan, with achievable goals, to grow the sport, should be the mandate but, this is RL, why have a plan, when you can use a fag packet.

I do.
Any time a new team is created is a positive as it grows the game one small bit at a time.
The one concern I have is how Covid 19 will affect their plans. Perez thinks global air travel will be back in some form by Winter, but I wouldn't be surprised if air travel isn't available this time next year unfortunately.

Cut the silly [i"Hilarious"[/i stuff, it's childish like your stuff.
Placing all three North American clubs in the Championship makes great sense as you then get a mini league of these clubs playing each other, and Toronto can start to play Americans and Canadians in their team. This would be a great stimulus for finding a paying American TV deal. It would be a great stimulus for American players to look at a career in Rugby League. In short a good plan....
Why do you fall over yourself to disagree with me and goad me all the time? I thought you were a genuine poster, a Wakey lad? I have my doubts about you.
