Don’t disagree with you but video ref as gone beyond a joke especially how long they take.

I watched the games from the NRL before going to Newcastle last weekend. The VR had minimal disruption, makes an early judgement and if a No try decision is given, the game gets back underway immediately. The arsing about over here, reviewing everything is spoiling the spectacle of the game. The referees are afraid of making a wrong decision and being criticised by the idiots at Sky. Plus the length of time it takes to complete a game is ludicrous. I am barely in the pub before 10pm on a home match day!!

I'm with you on this Alffi. Many will kick up a real fuss if a quick decision is made which is wrong and it affects their own team. At Magic ...I didn't think Wigan's early "try" under the posts should have been given. I would have waited much longer.

Get rid of the sky spinny reel that wastes 30 secs after the decision and adds nothing.

I’ve always hated the on pitch ref’s call. It’s a backwards concept. You can’t ask a video ref to prove you right or wrong on a decision you’re not sure of, the video ref should be used to make the decision you haven’t seen for you!

Excellent point. If it's referred it's down to the video ref to make a decision.

the obstruction checking is my bug bear, if you're asking about it, why didn't you penalise it when you saw it, what would you have done if it was further up the field? you'd have penalised it wouldn't you.

The Try/No Try on-field malarkey is an absolute nonsense. If the try is given on-field in terms of grounding it must take one MONUMENTAL knock-on for it to be chalked off - and even then (Powell and Morgan) it's just given. Needs scrapping ASAP.

Agreed. Not allowing obstruction checks by the video ref would be a big improvement, I think. Of course, the flip-side would be that some tries will then be scored that leave fans up in arms, shouting that they should have been ruled out for obstruction (and some teams specialising in the dark arts will doubtless run more deliberate obstruction plays to see what they can get away with). Ultimately though, it would be up to the on-field refs to be sharp enough to call any obstructions correctly. Are they sharp enough? That's a different debate!
