I don't see Darryl Powell being solely in charge of recruitment in this contract extension! If he is its his first mistake IMO. Waste of cap space, if a good prop comes available during the season we are better having the cash available to move on that than having a totally defence minded second row/ bloke too small to play prop on the field.

I can't see Powell liking his style of attack at all, run it in (with zero threat of any offload or delayed pass) , stand in the tackle fending off defenders so it takes a good 30 seconds to be completed(with still no threat of any offload), get a painfully slow play the ball put your teams attack on the back foot and totally blunt any attacking momentum. Barring injuries does anyone think he will play? I'm very willing to be wrong about this and blame it all on price (the Steve Price fan club booted me out before the challenge Cup win against saints for negativity in the WhatsApp groups) but I don't think I will be wrong on this.

.... and to think, we couldn't establish a compromise for a prop's contract (which WILL bite us on the ar53) who has served us excellently , but WE CAN extend the contract of "a plodder".

Our recruitment has been good for next year, and J.Clark staying will just be for squad depth and his Utility value.
We proberbly didn't have much miney left to bring a decent prop in so he's a safe bet.

Even if Clark had played well for us, the fact is that we have a 19 year old academy product who is better than him. One of the worst uses of salary cap space I can remember.
