| Looking at Friday's performance, and previous performances against Saints its pretty obvious that IF we get to OT we have to do something different. We cant expect to pick the 17 and expect a different result. We simply don't have the pack to compete with the Saints pack, so what do we change? We are obviously going to have to rely on making breaks from deep so in my opinion French HAS to play, whether that is at 6 or 7 with Leuluai playing at 9 (Powell doesn't look fit anyway) or on the wing or fullback. We have to roll the dice and try something. I was massively disappointed with our aggression, something that had looked better recently since the return of Matty Peet, but given the difference in size in both packs, we didn't even front up or try to rattle Saints early on. On another note, im not even sure id pick Lockers Friday, something I never thought id say, but he was targeted all night when he was on the pitch Friday, he was a spot for Saints behind the ruck as a lazy defender and there was a few occasions this happened, something Salford was look to do Friday. He looks completely knackered and it would be a huge same if his legacy of a club legend is tarnished.

| Sarge will clearly come back in and I'd probably put Navarette in for Marshall and put French on the wing to get him on the field for the full 80. Four forwards on the bench and maybe use the subs a little earlier to keep fresh players on for the whirlwind starts that Saints are so good at.
If we get there (and the Salford game is 50/50) the one positive is Wigan will be under no illusions now - they will need to be as aggressive and intense as they've ever been to avoid embarrassment in a major final.

| I agree, for some reason Lockers just looked to let players run past him and didn’t bother chasing back. I definitely wouldn’t start him or I’d play him in the halves and move Leuluai to 9.

| Getting another crack at Saints will be tough enough but I think we need to change things for this Friday anyway. We need more pace and energy to try and go round teams because we’ve not got the size to go through them. Hardaker looks like he’s running in treacle at the minute and I’d swap him and Sarginson round, with Sarge coming back in at fullback and Hardaker going to centre. We have to start French without any shadow of a doubt. I’m lost as to why he’s gone from putting in the best performance from any of our wingers all year against Catalans to being a bit part player from the bench. Lammy has shown a bit too much sentiment these past few weeks IMO with French being dropped to the bench to make way for two lads here at the start of the year and followed that up by starting Lockers on Friday. We need our best performing players on the field from the start against Salford and there’s no doubt in my mind that French and Smithies have been two of those.

| I think you need more hair ruffling and maybe rip of Lomax's scrum cap.

Ive thought quite a lot over the weekend and it wouldn't surprise me lam went with the same 17 except for Sarginson in for Hankinson.
We've got SOL, Flower, Greenwod and potentially Powell who are not match fit and the only only way they are going to get fitter is to play against Salford. Risky but Lam can lay the gauntlet down and ask for a performance to go some way in paying back for Friday's lacklustre effort.
It's not necessarily what I want but this approach wouldn't surprise me at all. Salford will come down the middle so at least we can plan accordingly.
Another defeat wouldn't surprise me but neither would a convincing win.

| I hate to sound pessimistic but I don’t think any change we make will make a difference. I still think we’d get beat by 12 or more.
I honestly don’t believe we have the players to win. More so in the forwards than elsewhere. They’re too big, strong, quick and powerful as it stands.

We've got to beat Salford first and that is far far from certain.
We deservingly got hammered but no point in even thinking about Saints unless we beat Salford first.

I know we are in for one hell of a tough ask on Friday. Far from guaranteed as you say.
I’m just working on the hope we do best Salford and play Saints again but my point re the forwards also stands for Salford. If they play like they did on last week, we’re up the proverbial creek without a paddle.

Your point stands regards just what an awful kicker Tommy is but in fairness to him, no kicker in the history of the sport would thrive keep having to kick from his own 30 metres. Our first two sets were pretty embarrassing in all honesty, with us struggling to out of our own twenty.
