Quote alegend="alegend"My season ticket is still at the shop .Think something is going to have to change before I pick it up .Some one posted worst start to a season for 50 years .Would like too know if we broke the record for least wins in 3 years Any body'"
I'm guessing they mean we've never lost our first 4 games of the season since 1971?
I give you Championship season 1986/87. Played 30 Won 4 Drawn 1 Lost 25
We lost the first 10 games and then got a draw against Barrow in round 11. Our first win of the season came in round 22 against Widnes.
I'd say that was a worse start to the season.
*I guess they are trying to include all games? including cup games? #tenuous
in 1986 we did beat Batley (who finished 13th in the 2nd division) in the 1st round of the Yorkshire cup 14-12.
Even in super league, I'd give you a couple of worse starts:
2003 lost 7/8 (beat Cas Round 4)
2006 lost 7/8 (beat Quins in Round 3)
2014 lost 9/11 (beat Catalans and London in Round 4/5)
2016 lost 6/7 (beat Hull KR in round 3)
So, it depends on your criteria, if it's just never lost the first 5 games of the season before, maybe, (I've not checked further back than 1986). But worst start to the season? I don't think so.
You also have to factor in the fixture list. Usually we play one of the bottom-half teams in the first 4 games, this year has been particularly tough. How many times have we beaten any of Leeds, St.Helens, Hull and Wigan away in a season?
As for least wins in 3 years?
Are you counting 2021 as a year even though we've only played 4 games?
2020 - won 5/19
2019 - won 11/29
2018 - won 10/23
total 26/71 = 37%
2015 - won 3/23
2014 - won 10/27
2013 - won 10/27
total 23/77 = 30%
Anyway, carry on with your agenda-driven rants, but try to check your data.
