A bit over the top, Matty may not have become what we hoped but he gave solid service to us? The question I have asked numerous times is where are our young prospects supposed to learn their trade? We have no reserves. I wish him well & the others who are moving on & there will be a team out there where they will do a job. The one thing they all have in common is that unlike most of us on here they were good enough to put on the shirt & have and be given the chance to fail.Something in my youth that I could only dream of.

I get the feeling Clarkson was on quite a good wage and that will have had a bearing on the decision

You are right there is a team out there for Marsh but I don’t think it’s a super league team he has had is chance hear and failed

I just dont think he's commanding enough for a half back. He can tackle, kick, put plays on but just can't control a game.

I think fullback is his best position, and especially at York/Championship level should be able to do well with his natural attributes. Compare his application to atkin at half back and its chalk and cheese

Tbf, 42 first team games for Rovers is more than most youngsters promoted to the fringes of the squad ever make.

Where it goes wrong is potential being overhyped and then excessive disappointment when a high proportion of kids don’t make it in SL. There were frequent calls for Oakes to be given more opportunities this year, until it became clear there’s parts of his game that need work. I hope he makes it, but when I see people talk about him as a future international... well, it’s premature at best.

Marsh is the same generation, give or take, as Logan, Lancaster, HTW, Turgut, Downs, Dean et al. So we’re far from alone in this.

I would be surprised if TS hasn't already got replacements lined up. I suspect that they will be better players and therefore command higher salaries hence the big clear out. Perhaps some of the players that were being touted throughout the season are back in the frame.
